SYLVIA L. STROBEL
Sylvia L. Strobel is of counsel to LEHMANN STROBEL PLC.

Sylvia's practice is devoted to entertainment and multimedia law, intellectual property protection and business law. Sylvia also provides business affairs services to individuals and organizations and advises clients on strategic management, business and financial planning and marketing practices. Sylvia's clients include film, television and multimedia producers and production companies, on-air talent, public television, radio and related public broadcasting organizations, business communications companies, on-air talent, musicians and music organizations, visual artists, and non-profit organizations.

Sylvia received a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from St. Olaf College in 1988, a Juris Doctor from William Mitchell College of Law in 1991, and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management in 1999. Sylvia is also a 2001 graduate of the National Association of Broadcasters Broadcast Leadership Training Program.

Prior to founding LEHMANN STROBEL PLC in 1996, Sylvia worked in the public broadcasting industry for six years. As an attorney and business affairs specialist for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, she negotiated television, radio and merchandizing contracts for many nationally televised programs including Ken Burns' "Baseball", Lancit Media's "The Puzzle Place" and CTW's "Sesame Street". Sylvia also served as Deputy General Counsel and Director of Business Affairs for Twin Cities Public Television, Inc., where she was involved with all aspects of station management and production, including the Academy Award nominated Hoop Dreams, the nationally recognized children's science series "Newton's Apple", and the creative parenting program "Donna's Day".

At LEHMANN STROBEL PLC, Sylvia has served as production legal counsel for numerous film, television and radio productions, including, most recently, Final Frontier (HD science documentary film) "Skunked TV" (Discovery), "Quintuplets!" (Discovery), "Matters of Race" (public television), and the award-winning radio program "For Kids Sake Radio" (WCAL), among many others. Sylvia represents several members of the public broadcasting "minority consortia" - Native Americans in Telecommunications (NAPT), Pacific Islanders in Communications (PIC) and Latino Public Broadcasting (LPB) - in their grant-funding and production activities.

Currently, Sylvia is serving as President and General Manager of Pennsylvania Public Television Network (PPTN) where she oversees network operations for eight public television stations and manages a $12 Million annual budget. As part of her duties at PPTN, Sylvia is promoting a statewide data-casting initiative to digitize and preserve aging film and audio content which is at risk of deterioration.

In addition to her professional activities, Sylvia serves on the National Board of Directors of American Women in Radio and Television and a past member of the Board of Governors of the National Television Academy - Upper Midwest Region. Sylvia is also the founder and Executive Director of THOUGHT. Sylvia is a former adjunct professor of Art and Entertainment Law at Hamline Law School, is a frequent presenter at workshops and seminars on media, business and intellectual property matters, and regularly writes articles for film, television and entertainment industry publications. She is an active member of the Junior League of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, is a member of the Women's Council of the United Way of Lancaster, and regularly volunteers for many community organizations and activities.

Sylvia is admitted to practice before the state and federal courts of Minnesota and the state of Pennsylvania.
